allopurinol

Allopurinol is a purine analog and it is a structural isomer of hypoxanthine. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme xanthine oxidase. Allopurinol is used to treat excess uric acid in the blood and gout. It is sold under the brand name Zyloprim.
